Visit Austin Decked Out in Lights

The holidays are a special time in Austin. Sparkling lights are plentiful and give a festive look to both commercial and residential neighborhoods. If you’ve never seen the city in its twinkling splendor, take some time to drive through the neighborhoods of Austin. Homes and businesses alike are a sight to see. Most will be lit at least until New Year’s. This is a great opportunity for those moving to Austin to come to our city and see things up close, in person.

There are many Austin neighborhoods that dress up in lights for the season. Some of the more popular ones to visit include Forest Creek, Balcones Woods, Cypress Creek and Guadalupe Street.

If you’re feeling in the giving mood, the McCoy Christmas Display on Roan Lane has about 40,000 lights synchronized to Christmas tunes. The display will be up until New Year’s Eve, and proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Not to be left out, Austin’s Zilker Park has a brilliant tree display with more than 3,300 lights. Although it is scaled down from the former Trail of Lights, it is still a nice way to enjoy some quality time with friends or family.
