Texas Single-Family Home Sales Up for 2nd Quarter

In a continuing trend, the latest statistics released by the Texas Association of Realtors indicates that single-family home sales in the state were up 13.04 percent in the second quarter of 2012 from the same period last year. According to figures compiled in the Texas Quarterly Housing Report for 2012-Q2, not only were more homes sold than last year, the number of homes for sale dropped by 27 percent and fewer homes in Texas were under foreclosure.

This quarterly state-wide report comes on the heels of a locally positive June report by the Austin Board of Realtors, which showed that overall, Austin home sales for June 2012 increased 23 percent over June of 2011. Similar to the state’s quarterly trend, the number of available homes for sale in Austin is down 20 percent from last year’s figures, with a 26 percent dip for Austin condo inventories.
