Texas Longhorns: Austin Kicks Off Football Season

The University of Texas at Austin plays an important role in the Austin community. If you’re thinking about relocating to the area and buying an Austin home, you will probably become quite familiar with the Texas Longhorns, UT fans and alum frequently wearing burnt orange, and the Big 12 athletic conference.

The football season kicked off for the Longhorns last weekend with a convincing win against Wyoming. With tomorrow night’s game against New Mexico looming on the horizon, now is a good time to take a quick look at Austin’s favorite football team.

Coach Mack Brown welcomes back the majority of his players from last year. About 40 percent of the offense took the field as sophomores last week, with only 2 percent as freshmen this year. If wide receiver/running back DJ Monroe’s breakout game in the wildcat offense against Wyoming is any indication of the ‘Horns upcoming season, it should be a great one.

If you’re planning a move to the area, you can look forward to tailgating or get-togethers in honor of the Longhorns’ games. If you’re doing an Austin home search during football season, be prepared. Some of the homes you look at may have burnt orange decor in the living room or bedrooms. Try to think of this as an asset.
