Our outing at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters last weekend was a success. We would like to thank everyone who came to the event. The York Real Estate crew had a great time getting reacquainted with our Austin neighbors and meeting some new ones.
If you believe your Austin real estate tax assessment was too high and are interested in filing a protest, keep in mind that the deadline is quickly approaching. Your paperwork must be sent to the county Central Appraisal District Office and postmarked by Tuesday, June 1st.
Fill out an official Notice of Protest form, which can be obtained from the Hays, Travis or Williamson County Appraisal District websites. Include a letter with your form containing the property address, property description, quick reference ID number, a daytime telephone number and any dates you may not be available to meet with the appraisal review board over the summer. The letter must be signed and dated.
Include in the package any comparable market analyses (CMA) of nearby private property sold between February 2009 and February 2010. Anyone attending the Mozart’s Coffee Tax Valuation event can use the verification information we provided. Make sure you include enough postage on the envelope and use the address provided on your protest form.
