The Austin real estate market continues to grow as the number of homes sold each month rises. According to the November statistics recently released by the Austin Board of REALTORS (ABoR), there was a 23 percent increase in the number of single-family homes sold since November of last year. The figures, which are taken from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) Report also who that the median price for Austin homes is also on the rise. There was an increase of 7 percent in November over last year’s median price of $187,000.
This is good news for home sellers who have been watching market trends, waiting for a good time to sell. There are more new listings on the market in the area and the average number of days an Austin home for sale spends on the MLS is now the lowest it’s been in the past ten years.
One thing that’s interesting about these figures is that there has been a steady influx of people moving to Austin. According to recent statistics from the City of Austin, 171 new people move to Austin every day. Increased employment opportunities combined with warm weather are just two factors that have drawn more people to the area.
