With many eco-friendly parks, commercial buildings and homes, Austin is a green city that’s always trying to go greener. The next logical step is to use environmentally-friendly road surfaces. Terra Pave International Inc., an Austin-based business, has found an alternative to the controversial asphalt MC-30. Called Terra Prime and created by Terra Pave, it can be used in road paving projects instead of the current type of bottom bonding layer which uses a cement and petroleum-based solvent mixture.
The company was founded by Yetkin Yildirim and Andres Jackson and has received funding from local organizations and businesses, including the University of Texas.
Look for Terra Prime to be used in construction projects after completing its new production facility in nearby Taylor, in Williamson County.
